Thoughts;

The Frog abides. I don’t know about you, but I take comfort in that, knowin’ he’s out there. The Frog takin’ ‘er easy for all us beer drinkers.

The Frog Abides. A beer that really ties the room together. The beer that I saw on an Instagram post just two nights ago that stopped me dead in my tracks. I immediately knew I had to go and try it out. With no local beer stores having it at the moment, I made the relatively quick trek up to the Hoppin’ Frog to pick some up. Chosen in part due to the fact that I have a true love of the Big Lebowski that grows every time I watch it, I’m sure glad I picked it up!

As an interesting and important note, when searching for The Frog Abides, it appears that in previous iterations it was a white Russian imperial stout (which makes sense give The Dudes love of white Russians) but what’s interesting is, and I didn’t notice until I cracked it open, is this is an Ale. I think further research on this is warranted, but for the sake of this review, this is an Ale as obtained directly from the brewery the day of review. The Frog Abides is, a “flavored ale with coffee and natural flavor added.” And let me tell you what, this beer is amazing. As I sit here and weave in my Big Lebowski references I have a slightly hard time describing this beer because it was like any other beer that I’ve ever had. The taste is so amazingly dynamic! About halfway through the golden yellow glass I came to the realization that every sip tasted different than the last.

To me, The Frog Abides was, you know, strikes and gutters, end to end of the taste spectrum. At times it tasted like a lite summer-time ale that you might sip on after mowing the grass, and other sips it tasted like an almost citrusy summer beer. At no time did it strike me that I was drinking a powerful 10% abv beer. I’ve used the word dynamic already, but it really is. And yeah, well, you know, that’s just, like, my opinion, man, but I really think you should try this beer!
