Thoughts;

Friday the 13th of September seemed like a good time to enjoy a beer named ‘Atomic Pumpkin’ that has a jovial hipster-esque looking dressed up skeleton. That said, I wish I was scared away before I cracked it open. I can totally respect and understand what they were going for, this beer definitely reminded me of Grandma’s pumpkin pie, I could even imagine the smell of whip cream on top if I closed my eyes. I so loved Grandma’s pumpkin pie, I look forward to it every Thanksgiving. I couldn’t wait for that first bite. The problem is, I’d almost always end up with heartburn from pumpkin pie, but you know what, I couldn’t stay away.

Like I said, I saw where they were going with this beer, and oh so respect it, but its just not for me. To me, it totally reminded me of Grandma’s pumpkin pie, but with every sip, with spices so intense, I was expecting the heartburn to kick in immediately. Thankfully, the heartburn never came, but I just couldn’t finish the beer (I know, right?). The beer is definitely quality stuff, and I’ve love the New Belgium stuff I’ve had before. I certainly won’t be staying away from New Belgium, but I can guarantee this was the last Voodoo Ranger Atomic Pumpkin Ale for me. If I’m off-base, let me know in the comments!
