The Palo Santo 10w-40… I’ve been wanting to try this beer ever since I saw my friends Nicole and Brandon of the Crooked Lotus in North Carolina post a picture of it. The problem is, I couldn’t find it in the area until I saw that Joe picked some up at Erik’s Grocery Bag. I immediately knew I had to get some.

Right off, after first seeing the can and certainly after first holding it, my mind immediately transported to a 50’s hot-rodder changing the oil in his hi-boy, getting ready for that next race. Red oil rag in hand, he set to the task at hand. No better or more fitting place for me to take a picture of this can than on the top of a supercharged 6.2L Hemi that puts out a whopping 707 horsepower.

Nostalgia aside, let’s talk about this beer. Ten years ago, I don’t think I would’ve even considered a dark beer. But this one, that pours as black as the contents of the oil can that it emulates is as dark as they come. My tastes have changed, and I’m glad that I found this one. From the hints of chocolate and coffee, to the oh so smooth feel, I can confidently say that this one is in my top 5 favorite beers. Amazing. Fantastic. Awesome… All words that I used to describe it in an opening/first impression video. Would I recommend this beer, absolutely! If you like dark beers, I think you’ll love it. Even if you don’t’ I think you’’ be pleasantly surprised!
