To look at me, you wouldn’t think that I’m a health conscious guy, but once upon a time, I had a little more weight on my. I’ll spare you my wedding photos, you’ll just have to take my word on it. Around the time our daughter was born, I embarked on a low carb journey, a super tough journey for a guy who could eat pizza for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Through this journey, I lost over 50 pounds by fallowing a relatively strict low-carb diet. Over the past ten years, I have been able to keep the majority or that weight off. I live what I think is a relatively healthy lifestyle. I picked up a new hobby, triathlons. Swimming a mile plus in the pool or going on a long bike is what I call fun, although I still hate running. Then came covid, and my pants got a little tighter. Faced with my 40th birthday and wanting to lose a few pounds, I decided to go low carb once again.

My first thought was, “but I like beer” and the second thought was “does this mean I’m stuck with Miller Lite and its 3.2g or carbs until I loosen the reigns a little? Is there a low-carb craft beer and if so, are they any good? So I did a little digging, and question asking at our local beer HQ, and I’ve come up with an ever growing list of low-cal and low-carb beers. So in this series, which as I said, is ever growing, we’ll explore low-carb and low-cal beers and see if we can find a “healthy beer.” Now, as much as this is my journey that I hope to share with you, I want you to share your experiences with low-carb or low-cal. If you have one that you absolutely love, let me know and I’ll try it out. If you had one that was awful, let me know too (and I’ll probably still try it). I’m looking forward to trying these out and seeing what all we can come up with. Until then, cheers!
